Gardening On A Theme
The most successful type of landscape garden is one that is based around a theme. This theme can be anything you like. It could be based on color, a favorite plant or flower, or even a certain mood. The most important fact to consider in creating a themed garden, is to have just one particular outstanding feature that catches the eye.
Whether you want this feature to be bold and very commanding to look at, or whether your tastes are more demure, it does not really matter. As long as the theme you choose is repeated throughout your landscape garden design, then you will create a garden or yard to be proud of.
One of the most common themes in landscape garden is color. If you are wanting to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere then cool and tranquil colors will work best. If you like a vibrant outdoor space, and like to entertain a lot, then the brighter more fun colors will work better for you. However, sometimes the addition of a bright color can enhance more muted tones.
An unusual but not unheard of theme in landscape garden design is butterflies. The colors of the flowers you choose for you garden, could be the same colors found in the butterflies. Another idea would be to create wing shaped borders or beds for planting your flowers in. This would work well if you did this on either side of a path. There are certain species of flowers that are more attractive to butterflies than others, so if butterflies are your chosen them, make sure you choose the correct flowers.
When it comes to landscape gardening, a few things you could include would be different area for planting, and paths linking the different areas. Think of the flowers and plants you want, consider their heights as well as color and type of foliage. The whole point of landscape garden design is create an area that is not only functional but wonderful to look at.
