The Art In Garden Fountains

An artistic garden fountain

an option for the very rich and aristocratic members of society. Nowadays virtually anybody, with the space, can benefit from the relaxing sounds added to a garden which the movement of water creates. Although fountain kits can be purchased for ridiculously low prices many people wish to make a statement and little else does this better than garden fountain art.

In a previous article we introduced you to the wonderful world of the Raku garden fountain and even those Raku fountains made from manmade resins and fiberglass are something of an artistic masterpiece. You do not have to be an art expert to appreciate the aesthetic and audio beauty that is present in such garden fountains but Raku fountains are but one of many artistic designs and processes used to create garden fountains.

Artists claim that any work of art should play upon the emotions, in modern art that emotion is, sometimes, anger, as many people feel passionately that art should be beautiful, whereas the modern artist often disagrees. The beauty of garden fountain art is that it is so wide and varied that there is something to suite all tastes. However the emotions stirred by a garden fountain are far more likely to be positive emotions.

Most world famous fountains, such as the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Italy and the Manneken Pis in Brussels, Belgium, are, without doubt, fantastic works of art that are appreciated by a great many people who visit them each year. There is much garden fountain art to be found throughout Europe and the United States and much of the statue fountains are based upon much larger examples found in famous places such as the Palace of Versailles in France which has the most incredible gardens which feature breathtaking water fountains.

While much garden fountain art is heavily influenced by famous fountains or famous art works such as Michelangelo's Statue of David other examples draw their influences from other cultures and more modern artists and sculptors. When it comes to choosing a design for your own garden fountain you can buy one of the ready made examples, commission an artist or sculptor to create one for you or you could have a go at creating your own artistic masterpiece. If you choose the later then why not visit your local library and take a look in the arts section for some inspiration. If you feel confident you could design your own fountain from scratch but this may prove more difficult than it first sounds but at least you will know that you have something unique and special.

If you look towards the bottom of the list of articles below you will find a section dedicated to creating your own garden fountains.
