Why Not Use A Garden Water Fountains Which Is Solar Powered?

In the previous article I introduced the concept of using a solar powered garden water fountain as against one which runs off the main household power supply. If you have already read this article then you will understand some of the reasons why this is something which we all must consider for the safety of the planet. I shall not be repeating much of the information so, if you need a little persuasion and some understanding about the solar panels used in these devices then please follow the links below this article. For the sake of this article I shall assume that you have read the previous page. For an understanding of why the addition of a water fountain, or other water feature, is a good idea for any garden please read the articles at the beginning of this section.

So Why Use A Solar Powered Garden Water Fountain

The previous article explains why we should use solar and other types of renewable energy to reduce greenhouse gasses and, therefore, global warming. However there are another couple of reasons why you should consider using solar power for your garden fountain.

Cost
These devices may, at first, appear to be a tiny little more expensive that the mains powered alternatives but this extra cost is soon saved because solar power is free energy. Over the period of its life it will save you a surprising amount of cash. Depending on which device you buy there are ways in which you can save even more money by using the solar panel to charge other batteries and devices when the garden fountain is fully charged and not in use.

Portability
When you have a mains powered fountain installed it is strongly advised that you employ a suitably qualified electrician to lay the power cable correctly. If ever you decide to relocate your water feature this expense may well need to be sustained again. A solar powered garden water fountain is fitted with a cable which runs to the solar panel and the whole thing is self contained and can easily be moved to a new location by simply uplifting the fountain and solar panel and placing it in the new location.

Safety
As I said above, mains powered fountains require the laying of mains power cables. Even if a professional electrician has installed the cable using shielded cable it is still possible that an accident can occur and electricity can easily kill. A solar powered garden water fountain uses low voltage power which is far safer but not only this there are literally no other cables needed in the garden other than the cable running from the solar panel to the fountain which further reduces the risks of accidents, such as ripping the cable with a garden spade.

There, as well as the previous article, I have provided you with a further three reasons why you should at least give solar powered fountains a little consideration but I really do hope that the information provided entices you to make an investment in the future of the planet and inspires you to look at other ways in which you can help in the fight against global warming.
