The Gazebo Canvas Roof

A gazebo with a canvas roof

Throughout this section of Landscaping Info 4U I have sang the praises of the gazebo and how it can enhance a back yard garden and also extend its usefulness but I have not really spoken much about the other uses of gazebos. I have chosen the above photograph to graphically display another way in which to enjoy your gazebo. Even if your gazebo is of a permanent design it is often a fairly simple task for two to dismantle it and reconstruct it elsewhere, in this case a beach. Unfortunately whether or not you can do this with your particular gazebo depends very much upon how big it is and of what material it has been made. Heavier enclosed types made from hardwoods are simply too heavy to be transporting to a new location but those with a simple frame and a gazebo canvas roof are ideal and in this article I will be taking a closer look at the gazebo canvas roof.

The photograph above shows and idyllic scene of a gazebo on some decking which leads directly onto, what appears to be, a tropical beach. If you lucky enough to live in such a place then a design such as this is, most probably, the best type to go with. In fact the vast majority of gazebos sold at the moment consist of a basic frame and a canvas roof, often with canvas sides as an optional extra.

The most basic design available is simply a gazebo canvas roof held up by four steel poles and often this is all that is required. Unless you really need a large garden structure you can gain much of the benefits of a gazebo by using one of the simpler types which can be packed away when not in use. It is often the case that the simpler the design the easier it is to assemble and pack away after use and it can take but a few minutes for a couple of guys to set one up.

These gazebos are superb for using in small back yards where space is at a premium. Often such gardens have a small area of decking which leads out onto a small garden and when entertaining the area can become rather crowded (obviously depending on how many people you have invited). One of the best ways to make the most of the gazebo canvas roof type is to have it installed on the decking so that it is close to the doorway, or French windows, from your house. You can then entertain your friends inside while having the extra space outside, even if it is raining. To make the whole scene a little more inviting consider installing some outdoor lighting to highlight various aspects of your garden.

Another superb advantage to using this type of gazebo is that it is extremely cheap to replace the whole thing or just the canvas roof.
