The Metal Gazebo

As we saw in the previous article iron gazebos can look incredible in a back yard garden but iron is a relatively heavy material so you may want to consider a suitable alternative, especially if you are wanting something a little more portable. This article takes a look at the metal gazebo which, if you want it to, can almost look the same as the iron ones.
A metal gazebo can be made from any number of a variety of different metals, ranging from lightweight aluminum to tubular stainless steel, whichever you choose depends on the reasons why you are buying it and, of course, how much you can afford to pay (as some metals are far cheaper than others).
Similar to iron gazebos the metal gazebo is extremely strong and immensely durable. It has the advantage of being available in virtually any color you desire and it is also relatively easy to change this color if ever required (just make sure to clean and prime the surface before painting). They are also available in a wide range of designs but they have a distinct advantage over other types of gazebo in that these designs can range from the old fashioned traditional designs right up to modern day, contemporary, or even futuristic. While it is not advised to have the sides of your gazebo in metal it can be done and can actually look rather spectacular in a modern garden designs, especially if elements are made highly reflective, which is impossible on most other materials used in the construction of gazebos.
A metal gazebo may not be made 100% from metal as metal is a highly adaptable material suited for use with other materials such as wood and canvas. The above photograph depicts a metal gazebo rather like a Victorian bandstand but could look fantastic in a variety of gardens. It would be pretty easy to change this design into an enclosed gazebo by simply adding side panels made from plywood and finished in a suitable preservative and stain. As I have said before, such panels can be fitted so that they can easily be removed when the situation dictates. Creating such a design purely from wood, would, be rather more difficult and would require an element of expertise in carpentry.
As with other gazebos, metal gazebos require care and attention to ensure that they last their longest. However how you look after your gazebo depends upon which metal is used as materials such as aluminum require vastly different treatment to stainless steel. We may examine this aspect of metal gazebos in a later article.
