Getting Started in Landscape Gardening
Welcome to the "Getting Started" section of Landscaping Info 4U. This section will be dedicated to helping the absolute beginner to gain sufficient knowledge in landscape gardening for him or her to be able to make a start on creating their very own garden and, wherever possible, will be written in a simple but precise fashion.
This section of our site is the latest addition and as such it will not contain a great deal of information for some time yet as we are continually updating the rest of our site. However, over the coming months, we hope to include valuable information covering the following landscape gardening topics; weather & climate, knowing your garden, understanding your soil, improving the soil and an introduction to pests, diseases and weeds. Once the section is established with the basics we will, hopefully, progress to cover further, related, topics such as mulching and making your own compost.
We understand how daunting garden planning and design can be for the beginner and while a beginner may not instantly be able to complete such a beautiful formal design as that shown in the above photograph it is possible for an absolute beginner to achieve amazing results with only a basic knowledge of landscape gardening. The key to success is a good solid grounding in the basics and, once you have this, the rest is really a matter of experience gained over time.
Key Points To Remember In Gardening
The very first thing you need to understand is that not all advice given about landscaping is good advice and you will need to quickly become accustomed to differentiating between which advice is applicable to you and which is not. By reading through our basic introduction to landscape gardening you should end up being equipped with sufficient knowledge to be able to do this, almost, without thinking.
I raise this important point at the earliest opportunity as it surprising how many people use the Internet incorrectly and blindly follow advice. In our the first part of this section we will be looking at weather and climate as understanding this is one of the most important factors in gardening and without this knowledge you will, almost, be doomed to constant failure. You see, each and every garden throughout the world has it's own unique micro climate which is governed by a great many factors. The overall local climate is the most influential but so many other factors change your micro climate that even advice given to a neighbor could be wrong advice if given to you. Now this may sound complicated but I promise you that if you work your way through our "Getting Started in Landscape Gardening" section all will become crystal clear.
