The Use And Importance Of Commercial Greenhouses
Fruits and vegetables are probably the most important part of one’s diet, as the doctor will not fail to tell you every time you are in for a visit. In the spring and summer the weather is favorable for them to grow freely in natural conditions however, in the winter when the temperatures get below freezing point plants, trees and even animals at times will go into hibernation mode in order to survive until the next spring without producing any fruits or vegetables.
Once upon a time all countries that had winters with extreme temperatures imported fruits and vegetables from those countries that had warm weather year round and could grow with ease vegetables and fruits but, in the process the vegetables and fruits became too expensive by the time they reached the supermarkets resulting in a loss for the importer as they are perishables and need to be consumed in a limited period of time; this left both the importer with a loss and the consumers who could not afford to eat veggies and fruits during the winter.
The Blessing Of Commercial Greenhouses
Commercial greenhouses were born as an answer to provide affordable fresh vegetables and fruits during the winter but also as a profitable business for many. One can grow any type and amount of fruits and vegetables in commercial greenhouses at anytime of the year because they are made with special installation to provide the optimum temperatures required for the vegetables and fruits to grow as well as extra lighting as and when needed.
All greenhouses are made out of glass or plastic in order to reflect as much natural light as possible, which is extremely important to both the vegetables and fruits alike however, commercial greenhouses and sometimes even private greenhouses will have special lights installed for those veggies and fruits that don’t get enough natural light especially on the short winter days when daylight is limited.
Other Usage Of Commercial Greenhouses
Commercial greenhouses are also used for growing plants and flowers all winter long and that is how the florist store in the supermarket is always stocked with fresh and beautiful flowers and plants even during Christmas and New Years when usually in some parts of the country you will have at least a foot of snow on the ground.
Commercial greenhouses now have started to experiment and even produce fruits and vegetables that are usually only able to grow in tropical countries and they can do so successfully because they can adjust the temperatures and provide as much sunlight as required. Many commercial greenhouses today operate on solar power, which makes them environmentally friendly as well.
