Imagine an Indoor Kitchen Garden

An indoor garden for the kitchen

I think that most people would agree that their very first introduction to indoor gardening was a gifted house plant which may, or may not, have survived your dutiful care and attention. Well in my case my first indoor plants of my own took the form of an indoor kitchen garden and I have had one for most of my life. In the following reason I shall explain why.

Benefits Of An Indoor Kitchen Garden

Admittedly I was not too adventurous with my very first indoor garden but this was due to two rather basic facts, firstly I sadly could only afford the absolute basics, and, secondly, I had no idea how to care for indoor plants. I may have had extensive experience of outdoor gardening but when it came to indoor plants I had no idea what to do. Thankfully I quickly discovered that one of the main benefit of growing a small indoor garden in your kitchen is that virtually any fool can get results with just a reasonable amount of care and attention.

All that my first few herb plants required was regular watering and a little plant food every once in a while. Within a ridiculously short period of time I had masses of parsley growing in my indoor kitchen garden as I had, obviously, planted far too much. So much of the stuff grew that for many years I refused to grow it again. This is a common mistake for beginners, you really only need to plant small amounts of herbs as the second advantage to an indoors kitchen garden is that you get far better results than when you grow the same plants outdoors in your yard.

With your small indoor garden gaining such excellent results you can pick small amounts of herbs for use in cooking on a regular basis and once you have tried fresh herbs there is no way you will ever want to go back to using dried herbs. With such great results it is possible to grow a surprisingly wide range of herbs within only a very small space on a kitchen windowsill. If you want to grow plants elsewhere in the kitchen then there are now a number of awesome kits available which come supplied with absolutely everything you will need including the seeds and grow lights.

You are not limited to growing herbs in your indoor kitchen garden, no, there are many plants suitable for growing in the kitchen. Many people choose to grow tomatoes and while these plants where often very tall and even leggy you can grow a bushy plant in a limited space which provides bountiful fruit (yes a tomato is a fruit!). Other folk choose to grow various varieties of peppers or chilies not only for cooking but also for their beauty and interest value.

Just imagine what you could grow in your indoor garden in the kitchen?
