An Indoor Garden System Produces Results

An indoor herb garden

One of the wonderful things about the indoor garden system is the fact that you can grow almost anything at any time of the year. Furthermore the results gained are often spectacular for the simple reason that you are in complete control of the growing environment. Whether you grow a few different herbs in a small windowsill system or a wide variety of plants in a system similar to that shown in the above photograph you can be sure of one thing, consistent results. The only thing you need to know is that while it is easy to grow indoors it does require a little more attention than when growing the exact same plants outdoors or even in a greenhouse.

One of the first things to consider with the indoor garden system is that the atmosphere is likely to be far warmer and much drier than outdoors where the plant is usually growing. Humidity can be a serious issue indoors and as well as causing problems for humans, a really dry atmosphere can seriously inhibit plant growth.

Some indoor systems avoid this issue by being designed as an enclosed unit. Some of the more expensive kits are enclosed and include automatic humidity regulation. This is one of the reasons why such superb results can be gained in some of these smaller units. Unfortunately, if you want a larger indoor garden system, such micro controls can prove to be ridiculously expensive to such a degree that it simply is not financially viable.

Although it is possible to create an indoor garden by just planting a few pots closely together it is likely that such a plan will produce poor quality plants which are rather leggy. Leggy plants are a common problem which is easily eliminated by the addition of a suitably sized grow light because such plants grow leggy attempting to reach a better light source.

Larger indoor garden systems can create a wonderful atmosphere and can help destroy stale odors and add wonderful aromas vastly improving our living conditions. One of the best places to put such an indoor garden system is close to a window which looks out into your backyard, this looks especially wonderful if you have French windows or patio doors.

Another advantage to growing your plants close to French windows and patio doors is that it is pretty easy to move the whole garden outdoors for the day when the weather is suitable. Even if it rains this can be extremely beneficial to your plants, if you do this make sure that you do not expose your garden to extreme changes in temperature, avoid wind and make sure you bring the plants back in at night!
