Outdoor Landscape Lighting Has Numerous Benefits
Many people do not take full advantage of the extra space which a back yard garden can provide. Of course, in the summer months, many of us will enjoy a hot sunny day relaxing on the lawn but you can greatly expand the usage of your yard by the simple addition of some outdoor landscape lighting. In the following article I shall examine just a few of the many benefits of lighting in your garden.
Bring Your Flowers To Life
When the sun sets many of us assume that the garden has gone to sleep. While many of the flowers may be closed, until the next ray of sunlight hits them, there are a great many plants which can take on a wholly different life by the addition of carefully placed outdoor landscape lighting.
If you have a large tree in your yard try adding one or two colored lights just a little out from the base, by pointing these lights up at different angles you can drastically alter the mood of your garden. In fact any plant which has an architectural quality will greatly benefit from lighting it from the ground up as this will enhance the structural properties.
As well as lighting from the ground up, outdoor landscape lighting can be used to shine light down onto the garden. One of the best places to try this is on a pond, or other water feature, and by changing the colors you can create different ambiences. You can also buy special lights which can be placed under the water which can have rather a profound effect, especially if all other lighting, in the immediate vicinity, is subdued/ambient.
If you have an area of decking, or a patio, outdoor lights can make this space usable late into the evening. In cool summer evenings this may not be as important, as the days are longer, but in spring and fall, and even winter, extra light is often required for safety reasons. In the following articles we take a look at the many other advantages of outdoor landscape lighting. We start by looking at the safety aspects and follow with security.
