Long Stem Roses
The best and most popular type of rose, used for declaring undying love for someone, is the long stemmed variety of rose. Whether the rose is red in color or not, will depend upon the occasion that they are for, or the favorite color of the person receiving them, and what's better than receiving a bunch of long stem roses?. Once you have received your wonderful bouquet of roses the next thing you will want to do is look after them. If cared for properly they will continue to give you pleasure and enjoyment for many weeks to come.
Caring For Your Long Stem Roses
Before putting your beautiful bouquet of roses in water it is recommended that you trim the end of each stem first. As with pruning it is best to cut at an angle. The amount you trim off each end will also depend on the length of your long stemmed roses and the vase you are going to display them in. Fill the vase with warm water rather than cold water, and add the sachet of preservative that came with your flowers, and place the trimmed roses in immediately. If you flowers did not come with a sachet of preservative, then your local florists or garden center will sell it.
It is a good idea if you remove any leaves from your long stemmed roses that will be below the surface of the water. Whilst you are arranging your flowers, also remove any damaged flower heads or petals. Some florists like to insert wire into rose stems to give them added support, if you receive roses like this do not remove the wires. Make sure that you replace the water your roses are in every few days. By doing this you will be prolonging the life of your flowers. Remember to add more preservative each time you change your water too.
Placement Of Your Long Stem Roses
Once you have your roses arranged in their vase the next thing to consider is the best place to put them. They are best situated out of draughts, out of direct sunlight, and well away from any sources of heat. Remember to check water levels every day, and top up if needed. Occasionally the odd long stemmed rose will start to droop. If this happens then place the rose in a bowl of water with just the very ends submerged. More often than not this will revitalize your rose.
