More About Roses
Many people would disagree, but I think roses are the most beautiful flowers of all time. These stunning flowers have been grown for centuries, and there are literally thousands of different species. Roses come in a rainbow of different colors, from the palest of pinks to the deepest of reds, and there are even roses with blue and black colored petals (which are my particular favorites at the moment). Another thing roses are renown for is their delicate scents, with each and every different variety have their own individual aroma.
Gardeners who are passionate about roses tend to have an abundance of rose bushes in the yard, and not just one or two. Roses more so than other plants in the garden need a lot of looking after. They need feeding and watering regularly whilst they are flowering during the spring and summer seasons, and then come winter time they need a lot of pruning. Whilst this may seem a chore to some people, the serious rose gardener will take great pleasure from tending to their bushes whatever the time of year.
The Meanings of Roses
The rose has been recognized as a symbol of love and romance for centuries, and one of the most romantic gestures a man can give a woman is a rose. These exquisite flowers are very popular as anniversary gifts or birthday presents, and even more so on Valentines Day. Red roses in particular are associated with love and romance, and I am sure that florists sell more red roses on Valentines Day than on any other day of the year.
To commemorate my birth, and the subsequent births of my brothers, my grandmother planted a rose bush for each of us. She did not just pick any rose bush to plant, she took great care to in choosing the names of the plants as well (even though I cannot remember them). Roses can be used to commemorate sad times too, I remember my grandmother planting yet another rose bush in memory of family member who had recently died. Whatever the occasion there will always be a suitable rose available.
Roses have become a very lucrative retail product over the years, and because of this one no longer has to rely on a visit to the florist to find them. There are plenty of mail order catalogs and internet ordering sites where one can no buy their favorite flowers. Is is even possible to purchase your roses at your local hyper market or food store.
